Magnus Theatre in Education is the premiere theatre training facility in the Thunder Bay area. Our classes and masterclasses are taught by professional actors, directors and educators.

MAGNUS MINIS (Ages 6  – 8)    /   MAGNUS YOUTH (Ages 9  – 12)                                     $125                                  Instructor: Danielle Chandler
Saturdays, October 31st –  December 19th @ 10:00 am - 11:15 am (Minis) / 11:45 am - 1:00 pm (Youth)
This is a great way for a child to develop self-expression and creativity while building their self-confidence. Students will explore improvisation, storytelling, creative movement and imaginative theatre games.

Class size is limited to eight students due to COVID-19.

MAGNUS THEATRE YOUNG COMPANY   (Ages 13-18)                                                      $549                                  Instructor: Danielle Chandler
Wednesdays, November 11th – May 2021 ( Performance dates TBD) @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Young Company is an intensive program for students who are interested in more advanced theatre training. Over three terms, students will learn foundational theatre skills and rehearse a full length play, to be performed on our mainstage in Spring 2021. ADMISSION BY VIRTUAL AUDITION; email for more information.  

TEEN IMPROV TROUPE  (Ages 13-18)                                                                                  $189                                  Instructor: Danielle Chandler

Improv is an important and often comical art form through which teens will concentrate on scene work, characters and focus. Students will learn classic improv games and build stories without scripts or rehearsal.

INTRODUCTION TO THEATRE PRODUCTION  (Ages 18+)                                                  $199                                  Instructor: Nicholas Palinka
Thursdays, November 12th – December 17th @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Explore conception from script to stage. Learn the basics of set design, considering colour, lighting and other fundamental elements.  Apply what you’ve learned to the creation of your own maquette, a model of your design commonly used by professional set designers. Concepts that will be covered include how to read and create scale drawings, script analysis for design and colour theory. Lighting techniques, including hanging and focusing, will also be taught.   

Class size is limited to six students.
