Venture into the World of Theatre!
These sessions are an exciting venture into the world of theatre. Students will work on a variety of theatre skills, including character work, story-telling, voice, movement, improvisation and acting techniques.
All classes conclude with a final performance created by the students for invited family and friends.
TECHNICAL THEATRE FOR TEENS (Ages 14 – 19) $249 (+ $10 Equipment Kit)

Are you interested in learning what happens behind the scenes? Technical theatre is an integral part of what we do at Magnus. Get involved in stagecraft, exploring scenic design and construction, painting and prop making. This program coincides with our production projects so that practical skills are developed through real experience. Recommended that students are able to lift 30 pounds.
MARCH BREAK CAMP (Ages 6 –12) $175
Monday, March 16th – Friday, March 20th 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Experience the excitement of theatre through theatre exercises, character development, improvisation and more! Final presentation of their own creation in the classroom for invited guests.
MAGNUS MINIS/YOUTH (Ages 6 – 8 and Ages 9 -12) $115
Saturdays, April 18th – June 13th (no class May 16th) @ 10:00 am - 11:15 am (ages 6-8) / 11:30 am - 12:45 pm (ages 9-12)
This is a great way for children to develop self-expression and creativity while building their self-confidence. Students will explore improvisation, story-telling, creative movement, music and imaginative theatre games. The session concludes with a performance for invited family and friends.
MASK AS A METHOD (Ages 13 – 18) $199 + $20 supply kit
Tuesdays, April 7th – May 26th 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
The mask is an iconic symbol of theatre. Through mask work, students will discover new potential and depths as performers, focusing on characterization, voice, emotion and physicality. Students will also explore Commedia dell’Arte, a form of Masked theatre from 16th Century Italy that went on to inspire Shakespeare, Restoration Theatre, Melodrama, Chekhov and Vaudeville.
MASTERCLASS IN DIRECTING (Ages 16+) $299*

Hone your skills as a director with one of Canada’s preeminent theatre practitioners. In a professional career spanning decades, Mario Crudo has directed countless productions. Prior to becoming Magnus Theatre’s longest serving Artistic Director (1992-2016), Mario was Associate Director at The Arts Club Theatre in Vancouver and directed plays across Canada. This course examines the directing process from conceptualization to rehearsal, in relation to both actors and audiences. Students will have the opportunity to take risks and apply knowledge through directing a short piece for an in-class showcase.
