Theatre School FAQ

How will you keep staff and students safe?

The health and safety of our staff and students is the utmost priority to us.

  • Masks are required in all classes
  • Physical distancing will be implemented as well, when possible
  • There will be no sharing of supplies. Props and costumes will also be removed from the learning space
  • Increased cleaning and sanitizing protocols, in line with recommendations from the Ontario Ministry of Health

Will there be any additional behavioural expectations of my child?

COVID-19 has changed some of the expectations for both staff and students. We want classes to be a fun and enriching experience for everyone, but there will be new challenges this year. It is essential that all students comply with verbal instructions from staff. It will be difficult to ensure a safe environment for staff and students if we face behaviours like:

  • Not respecting physical distancing
  • Leaving the room without permission
  • Engaging in physical conflicts (or any ‘hands on’ behaviour, including hugging) with staff or other students
  • Not following verbal instructions

Some students may have more difficulty at camp under these conditions, and we expect that some behaviours that are manageable during typical conditions may unfortunately be more difficult to handle under current conditions.

Please consider what your child’s experience will be like if they typically require extra supervision or close contact.

What happens if my child is ill?

Please screen your student before class, and keep students that are feeling unwell at home.

If your child becomes ill while at class, we will inform you or your emergency contact immediately. If they are displaying symptoms common to COVID-19, we will separate them from the group while we wait for you to pick them up.

What is the refund policy?

The total cost of each class includes a 25% administration fee. If the student should choose not to participate, the administration portion of the class fee is non-refundable. Within one week of the first day of class, fees become 100% non-refundable.

What is the background of your staff?

Our staff is knowledgeable and passionate about both theatre and working with students. Our Theatre in Education Director, Danielle Chandler, is a qualified teacher with over ten years of experience in the field.  All staff working with anyone under age 16 must have a current vulnerable sector police check.

How do I register?

Registration is exclusively online this year. To sign your child up, please visit https://tickets.magnus.on.ca/

Please note that you must also fill out the form at https://magnustheatre.com/theatre-school-registration/. Students will not be able to attend camp without a completed form.

If you are unable to register online, please call our box office at 345-5552 and leave a message. Please note that leaving a voicemail does not secure a spot.

How are registrations administered?

Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Most classes require a minimum of five participants to run. We review registrations daily, and if a class has less than five registrations the week before its due to start, the class may be cancelled.
