Magnus Theatre Young Company brings you Mark Scharf's adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel, Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus. Captain Walton is on an Arctic expedition when he finds and saves Victor Frankenstein from freezing conditions. Frankenstein is pursuing the Creature he brought to life. Walton retells the story of the monster and the resulting mayhem as the tale, like the creature, comes alive on the Magnus stage. The Creature sets out to seek his education and identity, but remains full of anger at Frankenstein for giving life to him. Frankenstein, filled with remorse, seeks peace and solitude, while trying to keep his bride-to-be Elizabeth and other loved ones safe. When the Creature confronts Frankenstein about creating a companion for him, the doctor refuses and the Creature vows the ultimate revenge: he will kill Elizabeth.
Young Company is an intensive program for students, ages 13-18, who are interested in advanced theatre training. Over three terms, students learn foundational theatre skills and rehearse a full length play to be performed on our stage in the spring. ADMISSION TO YOUNG COMPANY BY AUDITION.
